HOW TO JOIN

It's easy to become a member of the Alabama Genealogical Society. Just click on this Membership Application Link, read the instructions and complete the form.  You will receive a follow-up message that allows you to process a payment through PayPal or offers you instructions to send a check by mail.  Or if you prefer, you can click on Membership Application Form (PDF), (or for libraries click on Library and Society Membership Application Form), print it, fill it out, and then send it in with your dues. Once your application and dues have been received, the membership committee will prepare your welcome packet and send it to you.  That's all you have to do. ABOUT INFORMATION YOU PROVIDE US

The Alabama Genealogical Society (AGS) collects certain information required for purposes of validating and managing the membership records, and for administrative controls related to our public events and page-copy services. This information includes, but is not limited to: name, address, phone number, email address, and dues payment history. In addition we collect, at the option of the member or event-registrant, ancestral names and life-event dates and places. From time to time we publish such information through print and the web for the benefit of our members and the public at large, consistent with the educational and cultural mission of the society. The society will not sell or otherwise convey such information to any entity for use in solicitations of sales, services or other purposes through any form of direct mail, email, phone or other media. However, the society may use membership records to inform members via mail, email or other media, of events and information pertinent to the interests of our membership.

ABOUT THE INTERNET

AGS may publish, in print or on our web site, "links" or web addresses (URL 's) of web sites deemed of interest to our members. These web sites may have pages that collect information for the purpose of handling payments, subscriptions, or for other reasons. Such information may be used by those web site owners for purposes outside of, or contrary to, the privacy policy of AGS. Prudent use of the Internet includes making informed decisions about providing personal information in any form via the Internet including web forms, email, and social media postings.
